Hello!

I’m Emily. I’m 23, and a first year PhD student in Genetics at the University of Leicester, UK. My research focusses on how the time-of-day effects breast cancer patient’s response to radiotherapy and has the potential to improve the lives of millions of women surviving breast cancer!

Getting the chance to do some amazing research makes me very proud to work in science and I love talking to people about what I do. My blog aims to give an insight into what us scientists get on with on a day-to-day basis, and what life is really like doing a PhD. Hopefully I can show that lab life is not just about wearing a lab coat and handling bubbling test-tubes…
